From Okinawa

We had some lemon drop skies followed by an unusual amount of rain this week. Hemi jumped into a bathtub and did not know it was full of water – until it was too late – and then ran through the house sopping wet. Ian prepared more for his trip to New Zealand. The DNC was held in Chicago and 200 groups of other leftist showed up to demonstrate / protest. I watched some of the DNC but each guest speaker seemed tasked with fitting as many demonstrable and verifiable lies into one short speech as possible. The level of speaking was incredibly simplistic. I think most dogs engage in higher level of communication. Still though – I could not award them the Cringe trophy – that was synched by the US RNC convention where people wore token ear bandages and there was a chanting for Israel moment that as an American horrified me, so sorry Democrats – you lost. You lost the cringe award.

The real trophy goes to me for sitting through any of that nonsense. It’s very difficult to open and run a business in the US – and I think if we leaned into our capitalism we would do much better. Let’s buy and make local. Run shops. Grow our own food. I think that is called, ‘dangerous Nationalism!’ It’s what I saw everywhere in Japan – I don’t mean to wrong think too much.

I’ll just lean in and support whoever wins. Try to stay out of a gulag.

From the book: Korea Unmasked

I studied more Korean this week. I have to go now but here are my photos from the week. I made a loaf of bread. My cats were super cute. Marley snuck in the house and found a box. Sandy’s twins were scared of Hemi and were stuck in the backyard.
