This is my 3rd day to rise and shine at 5am.
I am so sore.
SORE. Incredibly Sore.
It started off well enough but then I had to help do emergency room repair, and mostly I painted which doesn’t sound too hard when I write it out. It was a lot of up and down on a stool, above my head with a brush and crouching.
It was much easier then pulling the carpet. The top rug (an impressive 90’s teal color) came up but whomever had installed it glued down the padding with a really obnoxious and extremely sticky glue. Part of the pad was infested witch black mold. The padding would peel and with the glue stick to absolutely everything – shoes… before we realized it, it had tracked through the rest of the house. The pad, partially glued down had to be scraped by hand. The staples (there were a million of them) taken up, by hand. My son and husband handled that, but it was a miserable task.
In two days we didn’t quite finish. I ran out of paint, and the flooring is taking time to put into place. They are installing a kind of faux wood product that snaps together but is still quite finicky to place and cut. It will just take a little longer.
All four mule deer are outside this morning. The little one Dandelion looks dreadful. The mother deer and himself have been pulling and biting off his fur. He’s mostly bald on one side and patchy on the other. He’s the smallest deer out of the babies this year. Both Sarah and Sandy had twins but only one survived for each this year and they’re pretty big now, although Reagan (Sandy’s baby) is noticeably larger than Dandelion.
Neighbors cat greeted me at 5:30. I practice my Japanese on her. I keep asking her, “do you understand English?” She just meows. I keep repeating the same lesson because after about 20 minutes my brain becomes level ten of Tetris and can’t handle new input. I think I’ll become used to audio lessons eventually. I try to spend 1-3 hours a day on learning Japanese. With the room refit that hasn’t been possible however.
I’m still addicted to Skittles.
